Kevin McKidd Defends Ellen Pompeo Scaling Back Role on 'Grey's Anatomy'

Earlier this month, it was announced that the 52-year-old actress will only be appearing in eight episodes of the hit ABC show’s upcoming 19th season.
In a new interview, Kevin, 49, defended Ellen for scaling back her role on Grey’s. Click inside to read more… “Ellen has been the captain of this ship all these years, and she’s about to start producing, so she needed to make room in her schedule for that,” Kevin shared with E!’s Daily Pop.
He added, “The fact that she’s not leaving the show and is just gonna scale it back a bit—what I think is beautiful about it is that it shows her love for the show still.” Ellen‘s reduced role on Grey’s comes at the same time it was announced that she will be starring in and executive producing a new limited series on Hulu.
