Kevin Hart, Obamas’ Higher Ground Fast Track ‘Fatherhood’ Series For Netflix & Sony TV
deadline.comEXCLUSIVE: Netflix and Sony are teaming to develop a series based on the 2021 film Fatherhood, in which Kevin Hart played a single dad who raises his daughter after losing his wife a day after the baby was born.
After directing the film, Paul Weitz will write the series and direct it. This will be a co-production team-up between Kevin Hart’s Hartbreat and Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground.
The film was a co-production between Sony and Netflix, and was well received. The expectation is Hart’s involvement will be as EP, and they will likely cast another actor to take on the lead role.
The producers of the film will also be involved, with David Beaubaire’s Sunset Lane Media, and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen exec producing along with Andrew Miano from Depth of Field, the production company run by Paul and Chris Weitz.
