Kerry Katona was left shocked this week when she went for a scan and was told by the doctor that she still has ovarian follicles, containing immature eggs. The former Atomic Kitten star, 43, was under the impression that she no longer had eggs, with the news leaving her conflicted over whether to have a baby with fiancé Ryan Mahoney - something the couple have been undecided on throughout their relationship.
Already a mum to five children, Kerry said in her exclusive column: "When I went for my scan last week and got the all-clear, I was told that I’ve still got follicles – meaning I could have another baby.
I don’t think I would have another one, but Ryan keeps changing his mind! If he wants another one then that’s fine, but we need to get a move on." She continued to explain that while another child could be on the cards, she wouldn't carry one. "But saying that, I would never carry another child.
I would get a surrogate. "The reason for that is that Molly and Lilly have some trauma from when I had DJ. It was such a traumatic birth and DJ nearly died during the labour, but that got lost in communication and the girls thought that I had died, so since then they’ve told me they couldn’t handle me having another child myself." Kerry is mum to Molly, 22, and Lilly, 21, from her marriage to Brian McFadden, Heidi, 17, and Max, 16, from her marriage to Mark Croft and DJ, ten, from her marriage to the late George Kay.
