Kensington Palace released the first official photo of Kate Middleton since her 'planned abdominal surgery' on Mother's Day.The sweet image, taken by Prince William, featured Kate sitting in a garden chair surrounded by the couple's three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.
However, mere hours after the photo was posted, a slew of picture agencies including Getty Images and Reuters issued a 'kill notice,' which meant the image was removed from their systems and all clients were asked to remove it from their platforms, too.This was down to claims the photograph had been manipulated, after certain elements looked as if they had been tampered with.
From Charlotte's hair abruptly stopping at her shoulder, to Kate's jacket zipper not lining up, eagle eyed social media sleuths also noticed that the Princess of Wales wasn't wearing her wedding ring.
While Kensington Palace first declined to comment when asked if the image had been edited, it has now offered a simple explanation as to why the wedding ring was absent.
