Exciting news for Law & Order: SVU fans! On Thursday (September 5), showrunner/executive producer David Graziano and executive producer Julie Martin confirmed that Kelli Giddish will be reprising her role as Amanda Rollins for multiple episodes in the upcoming 26th season. Keep reading to find out more…“Rollins is definitely coming back to the show,” Martin told TVLine. “She’s coming as a guest star, and she’s going to make a bunch of appearances throughout the season.” “We’re really happy about it,” Graziano added. Kelli first joined SVU in 2013 and appeared as a main character until leaving the show in December 2022.

She has since popped up on the show for several guest appearances, including most recently in May 2024. When Amanda returns in season 26, the executive producers teased that Rollins will be working with the New York Police Department’s Intelligence Unit, “which is very different from the Intelligence Unit anywhere else, because the Intelligence Unit in New York has cops stationed in almost every country in the world,” Graziano explained. “And so, Rollins is going to be traveling a lot as part of that job.” The producers also reassured fans that Rollins and husband Dominick “Sonny” Carisi (Peter Scanavino) are still happily married and raising their three kids.

With Rollins’ new job having her travel more, fans will see more of Carisi’s solo parenting, with the producers teasing, “We’ll see Carisi and his daughter get involved in something together that they’ll kind of have to work their way out of.” Season 26 of Law & Order: SVU will premiere on October 3 at 9 p.m.
