She also contributed to Channel 4 soap Brookside in 1989. Kay died aged 71 on Tuesday. Kay became pregnant at 16 with her first child Yvonne and married her father Anthony Mellor when she was 17. They later welcomed their second daughter Gaynor in 1971.
