Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

Bloom subsequently established himself as a leading man in Hollywood films, with roles such as Paris in Troy (2004) and Balian de Ibelin in Kingdom of Heaven (2005). He currently stars in the Amazon Prime Video series Carnival Row (2019–present).

Katy Perry's new album 'unavoidably delayed' as she nears birth of first child

Katy Perry is set for a busy few weeks as her new album has been 'unavoidably delayed' leading to its release possibly clashing with the birth of her first child.

The 35-year-old singer is expecting a baby with her fiancee, actor Orlando Bloom, and had promised fans that her latest album, Smile, would be released on August 14.

She has now taken to social media to apologise to her followers that is has now been pushed back to August 28, with "unavoidable production delays" being blamed as the reason.

Posting on Instagram a photo of what looks like a custard pie about to be planted into her face, Katy told her fans: "Welp. I hate to throw this bad news at you like a pie in the face...
