Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.
Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.
After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.
Katy Perry has happily moved on since her split from ex-husband Russell Brand in 2011, which happened just 14 months after they tied the knot.
But sources close to the pop star, 38, have claimed that she still feels haunted by their marriage following the allegations of sexual assault and rape made against him. “This is an absolute nightmare for everyone and Katy feels sick to her stomach,” a source says . “She can’t believe she was married to someone accused of such horrible things.
She fears that marrying Russell was the worst decision she ever made. “Katy has moved on with her life, but her first marriage might end up haunting her to the grave.
You can imagine how upsetting this has been for her.” Comedian and actor Russell has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women.Read more on ok.co.uk
