Katie Price reveals mum was ‘in coma and 2 weeks from death’ before lung transplant

Katie Price has said her mum Amy was “weeks from death” before she underwent a lifesaving lung transplant. Amy, 71, was diagnosed with idopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017, a condition in which the lungs become scarred and make breathing difficult.

Katie’s mum underwent life-saving surgery last year, after a donor match was found. But it was a difficult process, and Katie shared how scared she was as her mum slipped into a coma.The family were worried she might not survive, before a donor was found at the last minute, when Amy had just two weeks to live.

Katie told Michelle Visage's Rule Breakers podcast: "She's had her lung transplant. "She had it in December. I can't believe how tough it is. “She's 70.

She had all the oxygen in, but she's found it hard to try to breathe, because she's used to the oxygen being in. "She only had two weeks left, and they found her a donor.
