As Sawai was announced the winner, the camera pulled away to focus on her, but in the corner of the screen Bates was comedically ripping up her speech staring into the camera that was filming her.It appears the gesture was a joke, however, as Bates enthusiastically clapped the winner and nodded approvingly to fellow guests at the decision.
The 76-year-old already has plenty of awards across a glittering career.
