Katharine McPhee Discusses Her Struggles with Body Image While Pregnant

Katharine McPhee is opening up about the struggles she had with body image while pregnant with her son Rennie.

The 37-year-old actress and singer talked about her body image issues while appearing on Katherine Schwarzenegger‘s Instagram Live series Before, During and After on Thursday (February 17). Kat has previously said that the biggest challenge of being pregnant was her fear of relapsing into eating disorders after previously battling with bulimia. I actually called my old psychiatrist, from when I was in a program in my early 20s, and he came and sat with me, and said, ‘What’s going on?’” she said (via People). “The way I was able to overcome disordered behavior, in terms of food, was not obsessing and letting my body tell me what was needed,” she added. “Not being like, ‘It has to be oatmeal in the morning, four ounces of protein,’ because that makes me crazy.” Kat opened up about the self-love that she was able to learn. “For me, I had to take the steps, walk through it, to kind of find self-love.

I think it’s reasonable to say that you don’t always have moments of self-love,” Kat said. “I really struggled during that first trimester.
