Kate Winslet Sets Directorial Debut at Netflix With Drama ‘Goodbye June’

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Kate Winslet is set to make her directorial debut with “Goodbye June,” a contemporary family drama that is being produced for Netflix.

Along with directing and producing the film, Winslet will also star in it alongside Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall and Helen Mirren.

Kate Solomon is producing with Winslet, with Working Title as executive producers. Penned by Joe Anders, Winslet’s son, the movie is set in present-day England and revolves around a “fractured group of siblings pull together under sudden and trying circumstances,” the synopsis reads.

The movie will go into production on location in the U.K. later this year. Although Winslet has never directed a film, she was highly involved in Ellen Kuras’s “Lee,” which she produced and starred in as American photographer Lee Miller.
