A question over the ending of one of the world's most successful films ever has been raging for a quarter of a century now - could Titanic's Jack (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) have fit on the door that saved Rose's life?
British actress Kate Winslet, who survived as Rose by clinging to a floating door in the icy ocean after the ship started to sink - leaving Jack to succumb to hypothermia and drown, has addressed the topic herself.
Since the film's release, fans have speculated whether Jack could have survived by sharing the door with Rose, however, during a 2022 interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Kate shared her perspective, stating: "You've heard it here, for the first time, yes he could have fit, he could have fit on that door." But she was quick to add that their combined weight would have sunk the door, saying: "But it would not have stayed afloat.
It wouldn't." Even Titanic's director James Cameron has weighed in on the long-running debate, revealing in an interview with the Toronto Sun that he commissioned a scientific investigation to test various survival scenarios for the lead characters, reports the Mirror.
