In September 2008, rumours were swirling that William was ready to propose, but instead, it was announced that he was joining the RAF Search and Rescue Force.This news was said to have come as a surprise to his family and Kate.
After finishing assignments with each section of the Armed Forces, William had two options - return to the Household Cavalry or leave the forces and start his Royal duties.
