Kate Middleton's grandmother was an incredible WWII codebreaker, who played an important in the second world war.The Princess of Wales revealed her relative Valerie Middleton's incredible story while honouring the Red Cross in 2020.

War hero Valerie worked as a codebreaker at Bletchley Park which broke the Enigma code. During the conflict Germans used the Enigma, a cipher machine, to develop nearly unbreakable codes for sending secret messages.

Kate shared an intimate family snapshot that features he grandmother, Valerie Middleton during a Voluntary Aid Detachment with the British Red Cross in World War II.The photo showed Valerie fitted snugly in her nurses' uniform, surrounded by her comrades.

Honouring her family's ties with the Red Cross, Kate penned a letter thanking 150 Red Cross staff members and volunteers whose names were put forward by the organisation in recognition of their invaluable contributions, reports the Express.
