The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are breaking their annual St Patrick's Day celebrations this year, and will be marking the special day differently.

However the change has been planned for months and has nothing to do with coronavirus COVID-19, which has led the Queen and Prince Charles to cancel many of their engagements.

Normally the couple attend the St Patrick's Day with the Irish Guards, which sees them chat to soldiers, enjoy a cheeky pint of Guinness and meet Domhnall, an Irish wolfhound and mascot.

Kate often dresses in green for the occasion. However the parade isn't taking place this year as the majority of the regiments are on deployment overseas at the moment.
