Kate Garraway has shared her hope that her husband Derek Draper will be well enough to attend Buckingham Palace with her as she picks up her MBE later this year.The 55 year old journalist who is best known for her role as a broadcaster on ITV News and presenting Good Morning Britain, shared her optimism with fans as she revealed it would be “wonderful” if her husband had recovered enough to attended the ceremony with her.
Derek has been bedridden since contracting the coronavirus in March 2020, with the virus infecting him so badly he remained in hospital for 13 months and even spent time in a medically induced coma.
Since being discharged he is now being cared for at home, and has slowly been regaining his independence by taking trips out in a wheelchair.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Kate had been selected to receive an MBE for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
