Kate Garraway sweetly praised her daughter Darcey as she won the Authored Documentary award for her powerful ITV documentary Kate Garraway: Caring for Derek at Thursday's National Television Awards.

The presenter, 55, and her daughter, 16, were left stunned at the news as she took to the stage with Darcey and her documentary crew to accept the award.

On stage, Kate said: "Wow, I really didn't expect this. This is going to be brief as I have very little prepared." She continued: "I've got my daughter here, Darcey, we managed to speak to Derek he is back in hospital at the moment fighting on so incredibly we're hoping he's coming home again soon. "But Darcey represents all the family, Billy [Kate's son], all the Drapers in Chorley, everybody.

Amazing, amazing." She added: "I want to thank Derek for his incredible fighting spirit, we love you. I want to thank ITV for being so great." Earlier in the evening, Kate was sweetly joined by her daughter Darcey, 16, on the 2022 National Television Awards red carpet.
