Kate Garraway describes husband Derek’s first weekend at home

Kate Garraway has shared her delight after her husband, Derek Draper, spent his first weekend at home in over a year. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March of 2020 and spent the last 12 months in hospital after becoming severely ill with the virus.

He was put into a medically induced coma to help his body recover and now he is finally home with his family. He returned home via ambulance last week and is receiving 24-hour care at the property, which Kate has adapted for his needs.

Kate shared that she was, ‘over the moon,’ to have her husband home after she was unable to visit him in hospital stepped into the hot seat on Good Morning Britain to detail what his first weekend at home was like for the family. 'We feel over the moon and
