evoke.ieLast Christmas, Kate Garraway and her children Darcy and Billy had a very different celebration than they normally would, as her husband Derek Draper continued to recover from long Covid in hospital.
Derek contracted Covid in March 2020 and it left devastating effects on his body in the long term, as it resulted in kidney failure, liver and pancreatic damage.
On more than one occasion his heart stopped beating, he battled pneumonia and fought infections which punctured holes in his lungs.
This Christmas, Derek will be at home with his wife and children, but Kate admitted that they are trying to adjust to a ‘new normal’ as she is caring for him at home.
