Your dogs and cats are safe, y’all! And so are your geese! As we’ve been following, Donald Trump has been trying to push the narrative that Haitian immigrants living in Springfield, Ohio are using the community’s pets, as well as ducks and geese from local parks, for food.
It was a baseless and harmful claim originally put forth by Clark County resident Erika Lee, who claimed in a Springfield Ohio Crime and Information post that an acquaintance lost their cat and later saw it hanging from their Haitian neighbor’s tree to be carved up and eaten.
The harmful rhetoric infamously made its way to the presidential debate stage, where Donald claimed: Moderator David Muir quickly shut down the rumors, claiming the city manager “told us there had been no credible reports of specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.” Related: Donald Trump Says He HATES Taylor Swift Days After She Endorsed Kamala Harris! Hell, even Erika, herself, spoke out to try and backpedal claiming that she never actually did ever witness an attack on anyone’s pets, and that it was just a rumor that “exploded into something I didn’t mean to happen.” Still, Donald has bulldozed forward continuing to perpetuate the debunked rumor, even telling supporters at a rally in Arizona earlier this week that migrants are eating geese.
He said: THIS latest version of the rumor stems from a viral photo of a dude walking with two dead geese in tow… You can see (below): But his destination certainly wasn’t the kitchen.
