The 34-year-old joiner from Marsh Green was found with serious injuries in the grounds of Wigan Parish Church on August 6 last year.
Emergency services rushed to the churchyard, but despite the best efforts of medics, Mr McMyler was pronounced at the scene.
Lewis Peake, of James Street, Little Lever, is alleged to have recruited four others to assault Mr McMyler in an attempt to take his watch - a Rolex valued at more than £11,000.
