Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has aimed another dig at Manchester United's transfer spending. Another big-spending summer saw United bring in Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for around £110million, before Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford for a cut-price £13m fee but on a huge wage and signing-on fee.
The deals tipped United past the £1bn spending mark since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement eight years prior. By comparison, Klopp's capture of Ibrahima Konate, for around £34m, was Liverpool's sole signing of the summer, in contrast to Man City spending £100m alone on Jack Grealish and Chelsea a similar fee on Romelu Lukaku.
