The Sugababes are back! The original members of the “Overload” British girl group – consisting of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy – returned on Thursday (March 13) with their addictive new single “Jungle,” their first release since reuniting and going independent.
The trio kicked off a new era with a new song produced by Jon Shave, and co-written with Anya Jones and Wayne Hector. Keep reading to find out more… The group originally reformed over a decade ago, but legal battles over the trademark of their name forced them to re-debut by their initials, or MKS. “Back then we had the name MKS – we didn’t have the name Sugababes, and that was blocking us from being able to do live shows.
It felt like we were getting blocked from different angles. But then we hired a lawyer from a magic circle firm who sent one email and within 48 hours we were released [from our record contract].
At that point we really had to go back to the drawing board and build everything to where we are now. I’m so proud that we managed to stick together through all that,” Keisha told NME.
