Julia Bradbury has revealed that she has given up alcohol in an effort to prevent her cancer from returning.The 51 year old presenter announced last September that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction a month later, to remove the 5cm tumour discovered in her left breast.
Julia, who is a mum of three, has said that she is “not comfortable” with drinking alcohol anymore and wants to stop to stay alive for her children, who have been her “biggest motivation” in her decision.The Countryfile host and her husband Gerard Cunningham share a 10 year old son named Zephr and twin daughters Zena and Xanthe, aged seven.
Julia confessed in a new interview that she once could “drink everybody else under the table”, but now hopes the removal of alcohol in her life will improve her chances of cancer staying away.
Appearing on the cover for WomanandHome magazine, she told the publication: “If I drink one unit of alcohol a day, my risk of recurrence is between five and six per cent across my lifetime.
