Judy Dyble dead: Fairport Convention folk singer dies at 71 after long illness

Judy Dyble has died. The Fairpoint Convention singer has lost her battle with a long-term illness at the age of 71. The folk artist, who also enjoyed a solo career, rose to fame in the 1960s and was a founding member of group Fairpoint Convention, whose hit songs included Time Will Show the Wiser.

Her death was confirmed by her agent, who said: "It is with great sadness that we announce that English singer-songwriter Judy Dyble passed away on 12 July following a long illness borne with great courage. "Judy Dyble was one of the pioneers of the English folk rock scene in the 1960s, most notably as a founding member of Fairport Convention and vocalist with cult band Trader Horne.
