Juan Mata has taken to social media to celebrate being crowned a league champion one year after he left Manchester United. Mata left Old Trafford last summer after eight-and-a-half years at the club, but United wanted to keep hold of the Spaniard and ease him into an administrative role.
Erik ten Hag's side were prepared to offer Mata one more playing contract, but he declined as he wanted to play regularly in the final years of his career. Mata was an unused substitute as his side picked up their first league title since 2019 with a 4-1 win away against Ankaragucu.
The former Spain international scored three goals and notched one assist in 15 league appearances for the Turkish side, making just two starts in the league.
