Jordan Spieth is backing Rory McIlroy to win golf's Grand Slam before he does. The Masters is the only major that eludes the Northern Irishman, with the closest he has got to slipping on the green jacket a second placed finish at Augusta in 2022.
Spieth meanwhile, has that particular item in his wardrobe, but still needs a PGA Championship to complete the set. But the Texan has backed McIlroy to beat him to the full set and admitted that he wished that it was the famous Georgia tournament that he still had to tick off his list.
Spieth said: “I wish Augusta was the course I need to complete the Slam with all the success I’ve had there, mine changes from year to year.
Sometimes I think it sets up really well for me, sometimes not at all. However, I always thought Augusta set up well for Rory with his ball flight and shot shape.
