Jonnie Irwin's wife Jess has opened up about her late husband's final days, after he passed away earlier this year, following a battle with terminal cancer.The TV star, who had had presenting roles on A Place in the Sun and Escape to the Country had been diagnosed with lung cancer three years before his passing.
Jess has since been open about her heartbreak and grief at losing her husband, previously sharing an emotional update in which she shared that his "death still doesn't feel real." Jess, who shared her three children, Rex and twins Rafa and Cormac, with Jonnie, also wrote: "I can't even let myself think what another week without Jonnie will be like let alone another year another 10 years." about her husband's final days. Sharing that he'd returned home from the hospital just one week before his passing, Jess told the outlet: "It was cruel how quick it was.
He came out of hospital the previous Friday and we lost him a week later. "He didn’t leave bed the entire time, so we weren’t able to get out in the fresh air and process things." And revealing some of Jonnie's final words, she continued: "He told me 'I’m so happy I met you' and that he knew the boys would have the most joy and fun a person could bring." Jess also spoke about how Jonnie had spent some of his final months transforming the family home, a process he had also been sharing with fans on social media.
