Jon Stewart is set to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor: 'I am truly honored'

Jon Stewart was announced Wednesday as the next recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.The 59-year-old former host of The Daily Show will receive the prize at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in April, becoming the 23rd person to receive the honor.Stewart will be honored on April 24 in Washington, in a televised ceremony, the first for the award since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He is most deserving of this award and I certainly cannot wait to hear the Concert Hall full of laughter again on April 24th.' In a statement after the announcement, Steward said, 'I am truly honored to receive this award.'I have long admired and been influenced by the work of Mark Twain, or, as he was known by his given name, Samuel Leibowitz,' he joked, using his own birth name rather than Twain's.
