Jon Hamm has enthusiastically praised his new role in TV show Landman, expressing relief that it’s not a “reiteration” of his Mad Men character, Don Draper.Set in the world of the West Texas oil industry, the show follows the dealings and scheming of various oil moguls.
Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, is the owner of one of the companies, who has a long-standing friendship with the lead character Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton).In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamm said he enjoyed the opportunity to express his versatility as an actor.
He explained: “I’ve been lucky enough to be in this business for long enough where people know and can trust me with whatever they want to write.
I’m a versatile enough of an actor to get a wide range of stuff, and that’s been great. I’m glad it’s not just a reiteration of Don Draper or whatever people see.
