A thick Guernsey, for example, is a dead loss in the tucking department, although lovely in so many other respects. The ideal tucking jumper is light- to mid-weight, with enough heft to drape well once it’s tucked.
The longer it is, the lighter it must be, because of all that excess fabric. Arrange it neatly, tucking in evenly at the front, so that the hem at the back, which remains hanging out, looks sleek.
Jumpers with side slits or vents can make this easier, depending on the length of the slits. Too long and they’re likely to gape.
