Jamie McKim yesterday admitted the decision to abandon Johnstone Burgh’s cup clash with Kilbirnie Ladeside was the right one after a player suffered a serious injury.

The sides squared up at Keanie Park on Saturday in the second round of the South Challenge Cup. But play was halted after just 13 minutes when Blasties ace Jack Wilson suffered an apparent ankle injury.

A decision to call time on the game was made soon after so Wilson could receive the best possible treatment with paramedics arriving at the ground shortly before 3pm.

He has since had surgery and thanked fans for their messages of support as he acknowledged he faces a “long way back” to full fitness.
