Johnny Depp's Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit Against Amber Heard Begins in Virginia

Johnny Depp latest lawsuit against Amber Heard is kicking off in Virginia. The 58-year-old actor will get a second chance in the case against his ex-wife after losing in a U.K.

court in 2020. Click inside to read more… Johnny sued Amber in 2019 over an op-ed published in the Washington Post, in which she alluded to allegations she had made against him in the past and said she had become “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Johnny responded with his $50 million dollar claim, though Amber did not name Johnny in the piece or detail any of the alleged abuse.

She subsequently filed a $100 million counterclaim. Variety writes that the case is being brought in Virginia, rather than California where the pair live, because the Washington Post‘s online editions are published in Fairfax County.

Jurors will here witness testimony and review texts and photographs, with jury selection to begin Monday (April 11). This latest lawsuit comes after Johnny sued The Sun for an article that claimed he was a “wife beater.” The Sun ultimately won the case in 2021. Amber‘s lawyers attempted to have the case in Virginia dismissed in light of the U.K.
