Joshua Drew said his ex-wife had been friends with Ms Heard, who told her Depp had a “particular issue” with James Franco, who the actress had worked with in the 2015 film The Adderall Diaries.
Drew was giving evidence in Depp’s libel action against The Sun newspaper over a 2018 article which labelled him a “wife beater”.
In a written witness statement, Drew said in 2015 he and his then-fiancee Raquel “Rocky” Pennington moved into the Eastern Columbia Building in LA, where Depp, now 57, and Heard, 34, had a penthouse.
