Aston Villa’s John McGinn is the latest midfielder being linked with a move to Old Trafford. It’s common knowledge that Manchester United are keen to bolster their midfield options, and a plethora of names have been linked to the club in recent months.
But interest in McGinn is likely to be more legitimate. Although he is not a blockbuster name, McGinn is highly-rated by compatriot and United technical director Darren Fletcher, as well as club legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
He's been subject to United interest in the past, though in the summer funds were prioritised for other areas as the club brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.
Villa would be reluctant to let McGinn leave, however with two years left on his current deal, there’s a chance the Birmingham club might look to cash in on the 27-year-old this summer, should he indicate he’s not open to an extension.
