John McGinn claims he's 'playing in wrong era' as Aston Villa hero reveals one thing he'll never change

Scotland hero John McGinn says he has no plans to spruce up his appearance, despite constant ribbings from his teammates. The Aston Villa star, who is in line to make his 500th career appearance when his side welcome Liverpool on February 19, is known throughout the game for his down-to-earth attitude - despite earning millions as a key player for the Premier League big guns.

But he insists he'll never change his dress sense, even after joking it makes him look like a painter. McGinn, who has scored 20 times in 73 caps for the national team, was quizzed by ex Rangers star Alan Hutton - a former teammate of his at Aston Villa - on TNT Sports.

Hutton said: "We were in the team together and probably 90 percent of the year you would turn up in just shorts and a hoodie.

But you see these guys coming in, they must've raised the bar," to which McGinn joked: "I'm getting worse!" A disbelieving Hutton replied: "You can't get any worse, surely?" Before the former Hibs and St Mirren ace continued: "I've stopped the shorts as much.
