During his John Mayer Solo live show, the 45-year-old singer-songwriter shared his thoughts about his 2013 track, “Paper Doll,” rumored to be about the 33-year-old superstar. “I wonder if people don’t like it because it sounds a little pissed off.

I don’t like ‘pissed off’ as a song. I think it was more hurt,” he explained, via Yahoo. “Is there something about it that’s a little bitchy?

I try not to give bitchiness in the song, and that happens sometimes. I guess I don’t do it very well, sarcastic bitch,” he continued.

Fans have speculated that “Paper Doll” is John‘s response to Taylor‘s 2010 song “Dear John,” but neither artist has confirmed the speculation.
