Legendary writer John Le Carre has died aged 89. The writer, real name David Cornwell, died after a short illness. His death was not related to Covid-19.
The novelist's family confirmed the star died of pneumonia at the Royal Cornwall Hospital on Saturday night. Literary agency Curtis Brown broke the news to the world on Sunday.
The writer was most famous for his work Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. He has left behind his wife of almost 50 years Jane and his sons Nicholas, Timothy, Stephen and Simon.
His family said in a statement: "David is survived by his beloved wife of almost fifty years, Jane, and his sons Nicholas, Timothy, Stephen and Simon.
