John Bishop joins Doctor Who in 'dream role' alongside Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord

John Bishop has told of his joy at joining Doctor Who, calling it a dream. The Scouse comedian will play a character called Dan alongside Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord and companion Mandip Gill.

He said: “If I could tell my younger self that one day I would be asked to step on board the TaRDIS, I’d never have believed it. “It’s an absolute dream come true to be joining Doctor Who and I couldn’t wish for better company than Jodie and Mandip.” The Mirror revealed last month how Bishop, 54, was joining the cast of the long-running BBC show.

Show boss Chris Chibnall said: “Our conversations started with John even before the pandemic hit. “The character of Dan was built for him, and it’s a joy to have him aboard the TARDIS.” Bishop also revealed
