Joe Ledley has disputed a claim Cardiff City wanted to make him their highest paid player before he joined Celtic. The midfielder moved to Parkhead in 2010 after his contract with the Welsh side expired, despite their best efforts to keep him.
Former Cardiff chairman Steve Borley insists he was willing to break the bank for Ledley but that the player's agent was "hell bent" on getting him to Celtic.
Borley wrote on Twitter: "I did my best to persuade Joe to stay and club to offer him a deal which at the time would have made him highest paid player but we had a new CEO who did not understand the transfer rules and an agent who was hell bent on moving him to Celtic."Stoke were very keen as well."
