Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Kenny Miller believes Joe Aribo will get freedom to excel in his new role under Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst. But the club’s former striker hopes Aribo doesn’t end up fleeing Ibrox if ex-gaffer Steven Gerrard comes calling.
Miller is a huge fan of the Gers midfielder, who was given more licence to get forward by van Bronckhorst in Thursday night’s 2-0 Europa League win over Sparta Prague. The Dutch coach tinkered with Gerrard’s previous formation, going with a 4-2-3-1 shape that saw Aribo more advanced and up close with frontman Alfredo Morelos.Miller felt it gave Aribo more space to hurt the Czech side in the danger areas.
