Jimmy Savile's paedophile driver dies in Strangeways prison after fighting coronavirus

Ray Teret passed away aged 79 at HMP Manchester this morning, the Mirror reports. He had previously fought off coronavirus after catching it behind bars.

He also battled cancer, although the cause of his death has not yet been confirmed. Teret, who became known as Savile's 'shadow', was reportedly found dead in his cell at the category A prison by staff.

In 2014, the former DJ from Altrincham was convicted of seven rapes and 11 indecent assaults on girls on young as 13. He was aged 73 when he was jailed for life.
