James Christian Kimmel (born November 13, 1967) is an American television host, comedian, writer, and producer. He is the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show that premiered on ABC on January 26, 2003 at Hollywood Masonic Temple in Hollywood, California; and on April 1, 2019, at a secondary home, the Zappos Theater on the Las Vegas Strip. Kimmel hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2016, and the Academy Awards in 2017 and 2018.

Jimmy Kimmel is confirming that he turned down the opportunity to host the 2025 Academy Awards.

There was a report that the Oscars producers asked Jimmy and John Mulaney to host separately, and they both turned it down. Keep reading to find out more… On the “Politickin’” podcast, Jimmy shared, “I just decided I didn’t want to deal with that this year.

It was just too much last year. You wind up pushing everything off till after the Oscars, and then you have to do everything you promised to do after the Oscars, after the Oscars.

I did two years [2017 and 2018], it went well. I did another two years [2023 and 2024], it went well. I figured I’d take a little break.” He added that he isn’t great at multi-tasking his late night series at the same time as hosting the awards show. “I’m not good at balancing.
