Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the 2020 Emmy Awards from an empty Staples Center in Los Angeles and he delivered the opening monologue to a fake audience, using a feed from last year’s show.
The talk show host started things off on Sunday night (September 20) by welcoming fans to the “pand-Emmys… You can’t have a virus without a host.” Jimmy also joked about how the show had no host at least year’s event.
He said, “Why are we having an awards show in the middle of a pandemic and what the hell am I doing here? This is the year they decide to have a host?” Jimmy also talked about the importance of television during the pandemic. “This has been a miserable year.
