Jim Steinman has sadly died. The legendary songwriter, responsible for crafting some of the most iconic songs of the past decades for acts like Cher, Barbra Streisand and Bonnie Tyler, passed away at teh age of 73, TMZ reported Tuesday (April 20).

He died Monday (April 19) in Connecticut, according to the report, following an undisclosed medical emergency at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (April 18), according to the state medical examiner. Read more inside… Jim wrote many epic songs, including Meatloaf‘s “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” as well as “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” and “Dead Ringer for Love” with Cher.

He also wrote Bonnie Tyler‘s 1983 iconic track, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” as well
