Jim Goodwin has hailed Rangers boss Michael Beale as a coach before their Viaplay Cup semi-final showdown. The Aberdeen gaffer is an admirer of the Englishman and believes he was key to the Ibrox club’s title success in 2021 when Steven Gerrard was manager.
Goodwin goes head-to-head with Beale at Hampden today for a place in the final on February 26. And the Irishman admits he’s facing a very different Rangers side to the one Giovanni van Bronckhorst left behind.
Goodwin said: “I know Michael is very well respected in the coaching world. "In his early career, he did a book on his sessions and a lot of people I speak to looked at that and really liked his ideas.
He’s a very modern day coach. And his team is set up differently to Van Bronckhorst, which is what Rangers were obviously looking for.
