On April 15, fans can listen to the project the Alaskan-born singer calls “one of the hardest” albums she’s ever done.“This is the first album I’ve written from scratch," she explains. "I've always had thousands of songs in my back catalog, but I wanted every single song to be representative of who I am now and the woman I am now.” “My business is notoriously unkind to women, especially as they age and become moms," she continues.
Because of that, the singer was inspired to write empowering songs about age and where she's at in the world. "I wanted everything I've learned to really come through in the lyrics as a celebration of being a woman that's been able to call my own shots, that's been able to build my own life, that’s been able to support myself off of my ideas and my thoughts and my words.

Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Dusty Springfield, and others, the singer wrote an estimated 200 songs to get the 12 that made it to the album.
