A Jet2 passenger plane was escorted by two RAF jets to Stansted airport after "a bomb threat made to the aircraft", sources claim.
It is believed that the commercial aircraft was flying from Turkey to Manchester when it was diverted to the London airport after a distress signal was sent.
According to witnesses at the scene, the plane has since touched down and is at a remote runway stand designated for hijackings and terrorism threats.
The aircraft was met by police upon arrival, the Mirror reports. A spokesperson for Stansted Airport stated: "An aircraft was diverted to Stansted this evening and was met upon arrival by Essex Police .
