An airline boss has blamed airport mayhem on "lazy Brits who live off benefits and sit on their arses", reports claim. Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy allegedly made the comments during talks this weeks as the industry struggles to rehire staff lost during the Covid pandemic.
The remarks come as holidaymakers faced weeks of travel chaos at UK airports, with reports of 'Biblical' queues, huge delays and cancellations continuing into the Jubilee weekend.
British Airways and easyJet are pushing for more powers in employing visa-free workers from Europe, with cabin crew in Spain a possible staff fix, according to the Mirror.
But their plea for European workers was rejected by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps during the meeting on Thursday. Mr Heapy was rumoured to have criticised Brits for not showing up at job interviews or taking the application process seriously, reports The Sun.
